Abstract

Alcohol addiction is a critical issue that demands serious attention. Besides its fatal consequences on health, addiction to ethanol-containing beverages can also contribute to higher crime rates and deviant behaviors, including fights, brawls, murders, and other immoral acts that harm both the addicts and those around them. Therefore, pastors, priests, spiritual leaders, and mentors who play significant roles in guiding congregations must collaborate to reduce alcohol addiction and mentor those affected. This study aims to propose a pastoral counseling model based on Isaiah 5:11 to support alcoholics within the congregation and the broader community. A qualitative approach with a literature review method is used, involving data collection from various sources such as the Bible, spiritual texts, and academic journals. The findings suggest that a counseling and pastoral care model, including guidance, empowerment, and therapeutic interventions like aversion therapy, holistic therapy, and group therapy, combined with biblical teachings, can serve as an effective strategy for addressing alcohol addiction in pastoral care.
